Breaking the Silence
"One of my life tasks is to break everyday silences," I wrote in the introduction to my 2008 essay series "Breaking the Silence." The essays wrestle hope from
- identity politics (Cherokee, Why Dr. Phil Is a "K/not-maker", The Silence of Violence);
- suicide (Lessons for the Wider World);
- organized religion (Spirituality & Religion, Spirituality & Religion, Part 2);
- and white privilege (Open Letter for Efren Paredes, Jr.).
Maybe more accurately, breaking the silence is theme that links various projects. Visit the page Autobiography to learn more about how I frame my work as an writer-activist-educator.
