Lansing, Michigan, March 16, 2010 - "Hope at the Center: Poetry Show" by Melissa Dey Hasbrook is a multimedia performance of her latest collection of poems. The show takes place on April 15 at (SCENE) Metrospace, 110 Charles Street, East Lansing, Michigan, and is interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing. Doors open at 7:00pm with the show starting at 8:00pm for a sliding scale of $5 to $10. In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, half of the proceeds go to the event's partner the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and guests at the show include representatives from Take Back the Night and the MSU Sexual Assault Program. Details forthcoming at http://deyofthephoenix.com.

DONATIONS
Donations towards "Hope at the Center: Poetry Show" are most welcome!

The proceeds are divided evenly between the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and I after recuperating event expenses. Expenses have been kept at a minimum thanks to donated services by Mark Darling for poster design and Shayla Riggs for sign interpreting. The cost of promotional materials rounds down to $100, thanks to a discounted sale by Capital Imaging. There was no out-of-pocket expense for the venue; instead one quarter of door sales goes to (SCENE) Metrospace. So online donations are very helpful in addition to those from the event. I will publish the donations tally on my web site and blog after the event!
