POSITIVITY

Note: This poem emerged late last summer while I was in Belgium. The poem served as a mantra through a challenging time. Being apart from loved ones, an ocean between us, clearly teaches the finiteness of our control. The poem continues teaching me how to focus on my own choices and attitudes.

POSITIVITY

Replace NEGATIVITY with POSITIVITY.
Not fake politeness, nor strained love but POSITIVITY.
Not condescension, nor passive resentment but POSTITIVTY.

Foster LOVE for me, within me for
humans and birds and cats and dogs.
LOVE for the land and the sky and the sea.

In the midst of destruction, there is HOPE.

I will pursue POSITIVITY and let my light shine.
I will let blessings be part of my daily life
by ACCEPTING and SHARING blessings.

I will focus on what I CAN DO,
how I CAN HELP,
how I CAN LOVE.

In the midst of destruction, there is HOPE.

I CHOOSE contentment in my present.
To wrap myself up in love,
in POSITIVITY brought to my life.

I AM A LIGHT,
if I choose to be.
Not darkness enveloping souls.

I SHINE. I BURN. I GIVE HEAT.
I AM A TOOL of my own design
and I guide myself on this path called LIFE.

In the midst of destruction, there is HOPE.

I AM LIGHT, and no one can tell me different,
because I know WHO I AM,
WHERE I CAME FROM, and WHERE I’M GOING.

LIFE is a journey not a destination.
TRUTH is experience, and I am constantly revising myself
to learn, to grow, to be POSITIVITY.

In the midst of destruction, there is HOPE.
