Mission Statement

Entering 2008 in the Hiawatha Forest brought about this poem.

Mission Statement

I want to validate myself.
I want to invite others to validate themselves.
I want us all to validate one another in return of self-validation.

This is not a race.
It is not a game.
It is living and breathing and being.

It is a war for souls, our own.
It is a war for souls of children to come.
It is a war raged by lies born of liars.
It is a war won with love.
Love dispels deception.

It is not mastery,
nor submission,
nor compromise.

It is confidence,
faith,
endurance,
and resolution.

Beginnings

Hiawatha Forest
In January 2008 in the Hiawatha National Forest (Upper Peninsula, Michigan) on Trout Lake, I scribbled furiously about possibilities for the year.

Dey of the Phoenix is one result: a new online installation of my ongoing work with words and the world.

The site is very much a work in progress!
